Premier Seller Program
NOTICE: As of November 1st, 2022, Inbound Services will be disabled, and no new shipments will be accepted.
What is the Premier Seller Program?:
We are looking for sellers to partner with who can help us provide quality clothing our customers are looking for. Doing so will help us collectively reduce waste by giving more clothes a new home. In order to do this we have created the Premier Seller program, the ideal way to consign online.
As a premier Seller all you ever need to do is pack up your box of gently used, or like new clothes to sell and send it in! Swap.com will do the rest.
We offer the most competitive commission rates in the market and pride ourselves on constantly evolving to make our premier sellers as successful as possible.
How it works:
Read Our Acceptance Rules
We only accept quality items that our secondhand shoppers will love. Clean out your closet and inspect items for wear & tear. Think to yourself, would I be able to sell this to an acquaintance? Would I be proud to sell these items to friends or loved ones? Are they free of wear & tear, such as pilling, fading, stretching, or shrinkage?
If yes, they may be good enough to sell on Swap.com.
Take a full look at our Acceptance Criteria Here.
Sign Up & Send
Sign up and send your initial items to us. As an applicant for the Premier Seller Program all you have to do is sign up for a Swap.com account and send in your first box! We will do the heavy lifting from there (processing, pricing, photos, etc.)
Premier Partnership
As an applicant you will only be able to send in one box to start. Assuming your first set of items meet our acceptance criteria, you will be invited to become a Premier Seller, which lets you start sending in more shipments.
What Makes a Good Premier Seller:
We find that sellers who follow these guidelines are typically the best fit as a Premier Seller:
They send in season clothing from Top Brands
They have thoroughly read and understand our Acceptance Criteria
They send in 35-50 items per shipment
They have an average reject rate of 20% or less
*Top Brands and Acceptance Criteria are subject to change, so we suggest our sellers check back each time they pack a new shipment. To view a list of our Top Brands click Here.
Tips for First Time Sellers:
As a first time seller we want to make sure you are happy with the experience and as such we have compiled a few tips for selling and things to expect on your first shipment.
- Get a feel for the website before sending in designer brands and high ticket items. We understand everyone wants to make a lot of money right away, however it is a good idea to test the waters and make sure you like our pricing model before sending in big ticket items. That being said, you will still want to send in several good quality items to make sure you make some money after the cost to send items is deducted from your commission.
- Understanding that the process takes time. Many first time sellers send in shipments and expect payouts to roll in immediately. To keep the most competitive commission rates possible we don’t issue payouts until after an item has sold. This means it may take a while to see your money come in, but it will allow you to see what sells well for your next shipment.
Seller Policies
Shipping Policies
Shipping labels:
Each Swap.com label is valid for one shipment.
Packages must be shipped using the shipping company specified on the label.
Swap.com is not liable for any shipment until it arrives at our processing center. In the event of a package becoming lost in transit before arriving at our fulfillment center please contact customer support so that a claim can be filed with the shipping company.
Your account will be charged for your shipping label once the label is scanned into the shippers database.
Inbound shipping labels must be used within 90 days of being issued, using a shipping label after this time frame may result in the shipper refusing the package.
Inbound boxes:
When shipping your Inbound shipment you may choose to use your own box, however for the safety of our employees and equipment the box cannot exceed 20 x 20 x 17 inches, nor can the shipment exceed 50lbs.
If your Inbound shipment exceeds these dimensions in any categories (height, width, depth, weight) your account will be charged a $25.00 fee, which will be deducted from your sales commission before you are paid.
Reject Handling and Reject Rates
Reject Handling:
When requesting your Inbound shipping label you will be provided two options for how you would like us to process any items that we choose not to accept.
Option A). You can select to have any non accepted items shipped home to you after processing is complete. If this option is selected, Swap.com will record how many items are rejected along with a simple reason for the rejection of each item, such as damaged, unsupported category, or insufficient value. The items will then be gathered for shipping once processing is completed. This option costs an additional $12.99 shipping and handling charge, which will be deducted from your sales commission before you are paid.
Option B). You can select to have any non accepted items discarded upon rejection. If this option is selected, Swap.com will record how many items are rejected along with a simple reason for the rejection of each item, such as damaged, unsupported category, or insufficient value. Keeping in line with our goals of keeping clothes out of landfills, any items discarded from this option will be sent to another company which recycles old textiles to create recycled fibers.
Swap.com will not issue any payouts for items which have been rejected.
*Please be aware that once your label is generated we cannot change your reject handling preferences.
Reject rates:
To help ensure the quality of product received and to maximize efficiency by deterring bad products, Swap.com does record how many items are rejected per shipment and will charge additional fees if a shipments reject rate exceeds 40% or a higher fee if it exceeds 50%.
Reject rates are calculated by determining how many items were sent in between accepted and rejected, and then determining what percentage of the combined total are rejected items.
Processing Inbound Shipments
Processing Times:
Our goal is to process your inbound shipment as fast as possible and with our current processes it can take an average of 90-120 days to process your shipment from arrival to being shelved and priced.
While 90 days is our ultimate goal there are many variables in our process so it may sometimes be longer or shorter than the 90-120 day average.
Pricing Items:
To ensure consistency and marketplace competitiveness Swap.com will handle the pricing of all items.
We utilize a special algorithm which takes into account many factors such as the brands, conditions, and seasonality of items to generate a price point for each item.
Your items will be priced using this system once shelved and then listed on the website for buyers to view.
Please note while we may use an automated system for Pricing, many of the details about the items are entered by hand and as such human error can occur. Please review your account after your items are listed, if you feel any items are mispriced please contact customer support. We will have a quality control member manually review your account and adjust prices as needed based upon the review.
Prices of items will drop over time if they do not sell to help encourage the sale of the item.
Sales:
Swap.com reserves the right to include any and all items listed on our website in sales and promotions, regardless of brand, condition, or time on the website.
Based on historical trends we see most high quality items sell within their first 30 days on the website and as such we will typically not include these in sales and instead mark them as new arrivals.
The longer an item has been listed on the website the more likely it is that it will be included in sales and promotions on the website.
What is Sureprice and how does it work?:
In your account you will see that Swap.com offers a Sureprice Slider. The Sureprice Slider is a tool to help you have some input into the pricing of your items
Swap.com will automatically lower the prices of items over time. You can use the Sureprice tool to select if you would like this to happen faster, to have your items sell quicker, if you would like it to take longer, to get the highest price even if it takes longer to sell, or if you would like to stick with Swap.com’s normal rate.
Payouts
How much do I make?:
As an online consignment store when an item sells you as the seller will receive a commission percentage of the selling price of the item. The Commission breakdown is as follows:
If an item sells for $8.00 or less, you will receive 15% of the selling price as your commission.
If an item sells for $8.01 or more you will receive 70% of the selling price minus a flat rate $4.95 processing charge as your commission.
Your commission for each item sold will be used to pay off any fees acquired during the process, before you get paid. Once all fees have been paid in full your commission will be held on your account until it is time for a payout.
If you choose to get paid in store credit instead of a cash payout you will receive an additional 20% added onto the cash percentages, after any account fees have been deducted.
Please note: If you choose to be paid in Store Credit, you cannot change the Store Credit back into a Cash Payout later. Store Credit gained through selling is subject to our Store Credit policies.
When and How Do I Get Paid?:
Payouts are issued at the end of every month. These payouts will include any fees, and commissions earned during the previous month's selling period. Example: A payout at the end of February will only include compensations and fees added in, and commissions earned from items sold in the month of January.
All fees associated with sending in inbound shipments are automatically deducted from your sales commission before you get paid. As such before a payout occurs you will see a negative cash balance on your account reflecting how many fees you have to date.
When a payout occurs your accounts current cash balance will be added to your commission payout for items sold.
If your negative cash balance exceeds that month’s commission, the commission will be deducted from the negative cash balance and the remaining negative cash balance will be listed to your account for the next payout.
If that month's commission exceeds the negative cash balance the remainder will be added to your account as a positive cash balance.
Once your account reaches a positive cash balance of $10.00 or more a payment will be issued to you using the details listed on your Sales Preferences page. If you have selected to be paid in Store Credit instead, your positive cash balance will be converted to store credit when the payout occurs even if the balance is less than $10.00.
Please be aware that if you are issued a payment, you must accept the payment in Paypal within 30 days of it being issued. If a payment is not accepted within the 30 day timeframe the payment will automatically be returned to Swap.com.
If you have a cash balance of less than $10.00 and no longer wish to continue selling with Swap.com please contact Customer Support to arrange a Final Payout via PayPal.
Please note: payouts will be issued to your selected preference as it is listed on your sales preferences page a week before the end of the month.

Voided Checks (payouts issued before 2/28/2022):
Payouts were issued to sellers via Bill.com between 10/15/2018 and 2/28/2022. If you received a check payout between these times, you were required to cash any check received within 90 days. Due to the Bill.com system, these payments cannot be resent until after a Check has voided.
If a payout check is not cashed within 90 days of being issued the check will automatically become void, and the payment will be returned to Swap.com.
If your check has become void for any reason Swap.com will reissue the payment.
Replacement payments are only issued once each quarter in January, April, July, and October.
If your check has been voided Swap.com will send you a notice with instructions to follow two weeks before a payment resend will occur. If you do not follow these instructions you will have to wait until the next repayment quarter to try again.
Swap.com is not responsible for any fees associated with trying to cash a voided check. Expirations are printed on each check, and it is the sellers responsibility to cash their payouts in a timely manner.
Other Policies
180 Day Policy:
In an effort to keep fresh inventory on the website and to clear products that are not selling from our inventory, all sellers need to read and acknowledge the 180 day policy before they can request a shipping label to send in a shipment. The 180 day policy applies to any and every item sent to Swap.com since November 2019. Items sent before this date were subject to a 360 day timeframe instead.
If your Item does not sell within 180 days (calculated from the date that the item was listed on the Service), we reserve the right to request that you order the Item back home. If we exercise this right and send you such notice, you will have 30 days from the date of our notice to reclaim the Item(s). You can reclaim your Item(s) by logging into your account and clicking the “Ship Items to Me” page.
You will be solely responsible for the shipping costs of any reclaimed Item(s).
IF YOU DO NOT RECLAIM YOUR ITEM(S) WITHIN THIS 30-DAY PERIOD, WE WILL TAKE POSSESSION OF THE ITEM(S) AND WE WILL, WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE AND IN OUR SOLE DISCRETION, HAVE THE FULL AUTHORITY TO USE, SELL, DONATE TO CHARITY, OR OTHERWISE DISPOSE OF SUCH ITEM WITHOUT ANY FURTHER OBLIGATION, PAYMENT, OR OTHERWISE TO YOU.
Requesting Items Home:
You can request items be shipped home from the, “Ship Items to Me” page of your Swap.com account.
Once on this page you can enter your preferred shipping address and select which items you would like to have shipped home. By default this page may not show items you have sent to Swap.com, you may first need to scroll down and select the checkbox titled, “Items I’ve sent to Swap.com”
Once all of your items have been selected you will be shown the shipping cost. Shipping cost is determined by the weight of the items selected. You can then proceed to checkout and your items will then be gathered and shipped home.
Please note that items cannot be removed from the website until you have paid for shipping, shipping items home does not qualify for any of our free shipping promotional offers.
You cannot request inbound items home until they have completed processing and been shelved.
The Suresell Guarantee:
The Swap.com SureSell Guarantee: if your item has not sold we will buy it!
The SureSell Guarantee, available immediately, ensures you’ll make money on your items. If at any time your item(s) have not sold, we will buy the item(s) from you. Suresell prices are minimal prices at best as we still believe waiting for an item to sell naturally is more worthwhile and of better benefit to you as a seller.
If you don’t want the SureSell price for an item, you can keep the item listed until it sells, or you can have them shipped back to you for an outbound fee dependent upon the weight of the items and actual shipping cost.
